My daughter was just 14 when she got pregnant. I split up from her father when she was 3 due to domestic violence. The court awarded her father contact rights and despite me contacting social services she went on to witness her father abusing all his future girlfriends. She had no self-worth, self-harmed and missed a huge amount of school. Luckily, she felt able to confide in me, she told me that her father also hit her and that she was pregnant by an older boy. The clinic was non-judgemental and, despite the abortion being an awful experience for her, were very caring and just lovely people. She is now 16 and after counselling is a different girl. She has got back into school, taken her GCSEs (a year ago she was threatened with expulsion and not being entered into any exams) and has high hopes for the future.
